Niger Delta group, the Movement For the Survival of the Ijaw Ethnic in The Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has described as “an affront” the decision of the Ministry of Interior and the Nigerian Correctional centres to carry out the order for the release of 169 prisoners granted State Pardon by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to MOSIEND, despite the Presidential Order and the failing health of most of the beneficiaries of the State Pardon, the decision to disobey the President and the Council of State is a anffront that should not be tolerated and condoned.

The MOSIEND, in a statement issued yesterday in Yenagoa by its Secetary-General, Ambassador Wiston Cotterel Amain however commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the decision to grant State Pardon to son of the Niger Delta region, Mr. Ebiware Edmund and 158 others serving various jail term in the Nation Correctional facilities.

According to Amain, the people of Niger Delta Commend President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, for granting state pardon to Mr. Ebiware Edmund and 158 others that are serving various jail terms in the Nation Correctional facilities.

“We will be forever be grateful for this singular act of Mr. President that will see Mr Ebiware Edmund as a free man to reunite with his immediate family, friends and love one’s.”

“Having grant this State pardon, it’s expected that the ministry of interior, and ministry of justice and other relevant organs of government to do justice to the prerogative state pardon that was also endorsed by the National council of state to enable all those listed and captured to reunite with their various families.”

“But this is now looking like a tall order that after 60 days, they are still be confined in the walls kuje Correctional center.We are using this medium to call on our father President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to March action with his words by directing the state actors to get to work and do the needful by releasing all that was captured for this state pardon.”

MOSIEND also restated the call for the beneficiaries of the State Pardon, particularly Ebiware Edmund should be released and allow access to medical care “Ebiware is in need of medical attention as a result of his failing health and body weakness being observed of recent.”

“Hence, we are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR March his words with action in calling for the immediate release of Comrade Ebiware Edmund and others that has been granted state pardon to enable Ebiware Edmund recieve urgent medical examination and reunite with his family and love ones.”
