Ahead of the 2023 general electoins, Peoples Democratic party support group, the Atiku People’s Mandate Bayelsa State chapter has vowed to work for the victory of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the President of Nigeria.

This was the decision reached at an emergency meeting of the state executive, local government coordinators, elders and stakeholders in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

A PDP chieftain and State Coordinator who also doubles as the South South Zonal Secretary of Atiku People’s Mandate, Hon. Joseph Owolo, said the meeting became imperative to brainstorm in order to galvanize and mobilize support and ensure that the party’s presidential flag bearer wins the forthcoming presidential election, saying that this is a task that must be achieved.

Owolo expressed confidence that Atiku will win the forthcoming electoin landslide owing to his political pedigree, robust grassroots support, experience as a former Vice President of Nigeria and over four decades in the political turf, no doubt he is the best amongst the presidential candidates.

He stated that the Bayelsa chapter of the group is lucky to have proven men and women who have made their mark politically, hence the appointment of two members of the group into the Atiku/ Okowa Presidential Campaign Council with Bayelsa State as the only state with two members in the entire country.

The Zonal South South Secretary of the group while stating that he believes in the ability of the various local government coordinators to deliver on the assigned task, advised them to liaiase the exco members from their various LGAs, elders and stakeholders to ensure that they register 1000 persons per LGA with PVCs for an empowerment scheme.

Also speaking, a former commissioner of finance in Chief Timipre Sylva’s administration and APC Chieftain who recently decamped to the PDP, Chief Stephen Ogullah said he decided to leave the APC because the party does not respect elders and lack focus, adding that he has returned to his home where he rightly belongs.

Ogullah who is a Patron and a member of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council representing Bayelsa described the local government coordinators as foot soldiers of the group urged them to be diligent, committed and focused in carrying out their assigned task, saying that they should redouble their efforts to work for the victory of Atiku come 2023 general election.

The women leader of Atiku People’s Mandate, Hon. Nancy Festus said as a former women leader of the PDP in Brass LGA mobilizing women for the victory of Atiku Abubakar is never a challenge, noting that she has begun to leverage on the network of relationship build with women across the eight LGAs of the state to galvanize and mobilize support for Atiku.

Festus decried the low participation of women in governance despite the huge roles women play in supporting and voting massively for the menfolk and appealled to the men to give women sense of belonging in the distribution of elective and appointment positions.

A youth leader of the group from Southern Ijaw LGA, Samuel Zibulon Abule called on youths all over Nigeria to get register collect their PVCs and vote massively for Atiku/Okowa ticket in the coming electoin.

Abule noted that the insinuation that Atiku is old does not hold water as the youths are comfortable with his leadership style as can be witnessed when he was the vice president of Nigeria where he had many youths as his aides, adding that in advanced climes the wisdom and experience of the aged politicians are leveraged in governance.
