The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Uyo, Ward 7 have concluded its emergency congress with a resolution to rally round its candidates gunning for various political offices ahead of the 2027 general elections in the area.
The meeting held at the instance of Engr Augustine Udoh, the political leader of the Ward, was attended by party stalwarts, including ward executives and party elders in Ward 9 and beyond.
Addressing party faithfuls at the gathering, Engr Augustine Udoh who doubles an Entrepreneur charged members to rise to the challenge posed by the current inept leadership style of the APC led administration in the State under Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the centre.
Praising the Supreme Court for restoring the hope of the opposition parties in Nigeria through the recent verdict that restored the Turaki led faction of the party, he expressed confidence that the will of the people will prevail at the 2027 general elections in the country.
He emphatically stated that the future of PDP in Nigeria is still bright and there’s hope that PDP will bounce back with a better package for Nigerians, stressing that the party’s crisis were caused by those who lacked good will for the people and PDP in particular, hence resort to perpetrating disunity, disharmony and disaffection among party members. According to him, the current hardship, insecurity and killings arising from the poor economic reforms of the Tinubu led administration in Nigeria are indications that the country can never be transformed should the APC remain in power. Engr Udoh hinted further that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Government has failed in fulfilling its campaign promises, while reassuring the people that PDP is working round the clock to produce credible candidates that will wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress at the State and National levels, come 2027.
As Nigerians prepare for the forthcoming general elections, he urged the party stalwarts to work in one accord, develop good policies and ideologies that will change the dynamics of governance for people at the State and National levels.
Responding on behalf of the party stalwarts, Elder Joseph Okon applauded the leadership prowess of the political leader and ward executives for thinking it wise to organise the meeting and reassured them of their readiness to stand behind candidates of the party ahead of the general elections.
Okon, like others, said they are prepared to repeat the 2011 feat in Uyo, where Hon Edwin Joseph had emerged against all odds, as the sole opposition member representing Uyo State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, on the platform of the ACN.
Speaking separately, Comrade Owoidoho alias Okpo, Mrs Blessing Marcel and Rebecca Okon passed a vote of confidence on the leadership capacity of the political leader, Engr Augustine Udoh for his firm belief for the PDP in Uyo and State at large.
The trio therefore reassured the leadership of the party in the area of their readiness to work for success of PDP in Uyo and the State at large, as they file out to produce candidates for the 2027 general elections in the State.
