The All Progressives Congress (APC) has picked the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Major Jack, as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The party’s Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Ikenga Chibike, confirmed Jack’s emergence on Tuesday.

Jack’s selection completes the APC governorship ticket as the party moves to strengthen its chances in the 2027 poll.

Chinda emerged as the APC governorship candidate after the party’s primary election held in May 2026.

The choice of Jack is believed to be a strategic move aimed at achieving geographical balance on the ticket while boosting the party’s appeal and grassroots support, particularly across the riverine communities of Rivers State.

Jack became a member of the APC in December 2025 after defecting from his former political platform alongside the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, and several other lawmakers.

The development is expected to further shape the political realignment in Rivers State as parties position themselves for the 2027 governorship contest.
