…Promises massive support for Umana
Following the minor cabinet reshuffling in Federal Executive Council, Niger Delta youths under the auspices of Niger Delta APC Youth Vanguard, ND-APC YV, have hailed President Muhammadu Buhari, over the appointment of Umana Okon Umana, as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.
This was contained in a statement signed by the President/National Coordinator, ND-APC YV, Gen , Fiawei Pathfinder
and The National Secretary SIR AK Peters in Abuja at the leadership emergency meeting.
Pathfinder who recalled the impact of Umana as Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority, OGFZA, described him as astute administrator, a development expert a technocrat and a transparent focused and disciplined financial expert, a core believer of the President Buhari’s Anti Corruption Mantra in this administration.
According to the group, the hard work and determination of Umana to transform and reorganize the OGFZ, employments were created for young people in the Niger Delta region, hence reduction in criminality youth restiveness and militancy while there was appreciable increase in revenue generation for the federal government through the Nation OIL Sector.
The statement reads in part, The Leadership of Niger Delta APC YOUTH VANGUARD, ND-APC YV, hails President Muhammadu Buhari over the appointment of one of our great leaders and forthright sons of the Niger Delta region, Elder Obong Umana Okon Umana, as the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs recently.
“We commend and appreciate Mr President for his wise wisdom for appointing a man of service and a game changer a financial expert and development expert to head a sensitive Ministry such as the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, especially, at this point the people of the region are yearning and Agitating for the inauguration of the Niger Delta Development Commission wish is a regional development federal agency, if constituted the board will as well fastrack Development to the people of the region, with Umana’s appointment it is a new dawn in the Niger Delta region because we as a people have so much confidence in the INTELECTUAL CAPACITY of Umana’s choice of appointment to oversee the Affairs of the Ministry and that of the NDDC.
“We know his pedigree and antecedents over the years even before he was appointed Director General of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority, OGFZA, who did marvelously well to transform and generate employment for the teeming youths in the region, His leadership reduced youth restiveness and militancy to a great extent, which led to increased revenue generation of the Buhari-led administration. Your expertise and experience has brought you this recognition, which is well deserved and acceptable by all Niger Deltans.
“Your emergence is at the right time to change the narrative and to rewrite the wrongs done on us by the previous administers of the ministry who single handedly oppose to the inauguration of the substantive screened and Mr President confirmed board of the NDDC Commission for reasons best known to them, therefore Umana’s appointment as the Honourable Minister Of Niger Delta Affairs at this point in time in this Mr President administration is to make things work in the region after several administrations have failed the Niger Delta people, especially, the 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP could not give a better life to the people of the region over the 16 years of his administration.
“We as a group has all it takes to give you all the necessary backing to ensure your tenure is very successful and to enable you deliver the dividend of democracy to our people in the region because our membership cuts across the entire nine States of the region with structures all over the local government areas and wards, and basically made up of ex-agitators, intellectuals, grassroots politicians and stakeholders, youth and women leaders of high integrity and reputation who have genuinely pursued the course of the Niger Delta region over the years and will continue to carry out our patriotic assignment to better the lives of our fathers and mothers, we will not relent untill every Niger Deltan enjoy our God given resources.”
The APC Youth Group also expressed optimism that the new Minister would drastically change the narrative in the region with massive construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure including human capacity development and youth empowerment programs within the period he will oversee affairs of the region via the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
“As the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, we see your appointment as a great honour done us in the Niger Delta by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), and with this gesture we see massive construction and rehabilitation works will soon hit the ground running without wasting time due to his deep knowledge in the region as a development expert and wealth of experience as former Commissioner in Akwa Ibom State and Secretary to the State Government under the Akpabio-led administration, which brought about massive and quantum of the uncommon developmental philosophy in Akwa-Ibom State, and we see that also happening soon in all areas of the region, and our people will see speed of development that they have never been experienced before since the establishment of the Niger Delta Ministry.
“And no doubt, as former Managing Director of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority, Elder Obong Okon Umana Umana will do well for the region beyond expectation as a man who has deep knowledge of the challenges confronting the people of the region, therefore we use this medium to call on all leaders of thoughts across the region, traditional rulers, ethnic youth bodies, women groups and religious leaders with those in Diaspora to massively support the new Minister of Niger Delta Affairs to actualize his great and good intentions for the region, and added that all sentiments across party, regional, ethnic and religious lines should be discarded rather join hands with Umana to bring the desired change needed in the lives of the people in the region at this point in time.
