It was celebration galore for the people of Ayakiri-Ama community in Gbarain Kingdom, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State as the Bayelsa State High Court 9 presided over by Justice E. G. Umukoro in a declarative judgement pronounced Ayakiri-Ama as a community breaking out from Ogboloma.
The legal battle which started in 2021 came to a conclusion at the Bayelsa High Court following the Court Pronouncements to uphold the desire of the people of the new community to be independent.
The team which returned from the Yenagoa high court in a carnival-like procession was welcomed with three traditional cannon shots as women peeled wrappers from their waist to join the procession in chorus and dance.
Leaders of the new community, Chief Emmanuel Onunu, Chief Bruce Duba, Chief Eliot Timizi, Chief Isaiah Inebaraton, Chief Imomotimi Waripamo,Dame Grace Waripamo,and others lauded the High Court Judgement as they described the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
Other Leaders who spoke to newsmen including Chief Ebu Waripamo, Comr. Ade Inebaraton,Comr. Timiebi Inebaraton says the judgement has put to rest the issue of the true origin of the Igbenbiri people and their passionate desire to federate and share common aspirations as a people under the supreme guidance of God almighty and freedom for all and equal opportunity to develop individual goals collectively.
Ayakiri-Ama community is host to SPDC and other multinationals in the Etelebou oil fields located at the heart of Gbarain Kingdom in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
