Grazing outside designated zone is an affront to Bayelsa laws–CP warns Fulani herdmen

The Bayelsa state Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu has warned herdsmen in the State to restrict their grazing activities to the Bayelsa Palms designated zone, warning that those caught outside the zone will be dealth with according to the laws of the State.

According to Police Commissioner, Francis Idu, the decision of the State government to give out the Bayelsa palm generously for cattle activities is due to the nearness of the cattle market nearby and any any form of grazing activities outside the place is a direct affront on the state government.

Commissioner Francis Idu, while commenting on the recent bloody skirmishes in some parts of the State, said “There is a law governing cattle activities Bayelsa State here. when you have a law that regulated the activities of cattles, you must remain under the agreement of the governing system.”

“Those who think they want to test the will of governance, it should not be in this place, everybody is held accountable for his actions here in Bayelsa State at least for the past one year, the laws are there.The state open anti-grazing law is active and a criminal code is very open on dealings with those who provoke troubles.”

“And make no mistakes, their is a law down South here and everywhere against terrorism and those who have lawyers should find out the penalty and enforcement mode of promoting native warfare which Is one of the most serious crime in southern Nigeria.”

“We are called into action to make sure the citizens benefited from democracy and the rule of law. The state here devolve a whole economic activities , to ensure citizens of Nigeria coming here to do their lawful activities are given an arena of free movement to ensure their actions are within their domain.”

The Police Commissioner further warned that anyone who want to arm twist the state, “I think the person might be joking , the airport is almost threatened by grazing , airport is a no go area for intruders, even citizens who intrude into that place see the consequences on them. If you take your cattle to the airport to go and graze, you are challenging the state”.
