UNIUYO VC to Deliver Inaugural Lecture on Addressing Nigeria’s Food Insecurity
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Professor Nyaudoh U. Ndaeyo, is set to deliver the institution’s 111th inaugural lecture titled “Farming Systems in Nigeria: Wallowing in Food Insecurity Amid Abundance.” The event is scheduled for today, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., in the 1000-seater TETFund Auditorium, Main Campus, Nwaniba Road, Uyo.
Professor Ndaeyo, an expert in farming systems from the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, will address the paradox of food insecurity in Nigeria despite the nation’s abundant agricultural resources. The lecture aims to present research-driven solutions to overcome food shortages in a country endowed with fertile land, favorable climate, and a robust farming culture.
The inaugural lecture will be chaired by Professor Leo Daniel, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA). The university community, policymakers, agribusiness stakeholders, and the general public are invited to attend and engage in this crucial dialogue on transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector and ensuring food sustainability.
