Rivers Assembly Majority Leader begins burial rites for late mother

The Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Major Jack, has commenced the burial rites of his mother, Ajuah Pamella Mensah Jack, who died at the age of 82.

The announcement of the funeral programme was made in a statement issued on behalf of the bereaved families by Alabo Major Jack, Elder Fenibo Jack, Deacon Adaye Jack and Adokiye Jack.

The statement identified the families involved in the burial as the Daerego Family of Chief Opu‑Benibo War Canoe House in Granville Compound; the Orieresi and Marphaline Families of Briggs Compound, all in Abonnema, Akuku‑Toru Local Government Area.

They were joined by the Amabibiba Oru‑Arumei Family of West India, the Amabibi Family of Browita in Buguma, Asari‑Toru LGA, and the Amabibi Son Pedro Family of Bakana in Degema.

According to the statement, the burial activities will run from April 27 to May 2nd beginning with a four‑day traditional gyration at the Abonnema Mini Stadium. A service of songs will follow on April 28 and 29, while both Christian and traditional wakes are scheduled for May 1.

“The funeral service will take place on May 2 at the Abonnema Mini Stadium, after which the late matriarch will be interred”, the statement said.

The statement added that many dignitaries, including members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the Senate, and the House of Representatives and other top government functionaries are expected to attend the ceremonies.
