As we move steadily towards the 2027 general elections, the people of Isoko North/South Federal Constituency can no longer afford to watch from the sidelines as outdated structures, weak leadership and self serving politicians dictate our destiny. Isoko Federal Constituency urgently needs a political emancipator, a courageous strategic force capable of dismantling the old guard, consolidating grassroots power and delivering real results for the people.
Over the past few years, there has been growing frustration among stakeholders and the ordinary constituents who feel increasingly disconnected from the dividends of the mandate freely given in the 2023 general elections. Many have cried out in disappointment questioning the direction of our political representation and the widening gap between electoral promises and lived realities.
Let us be clear and factual, the representation both at the Federal House of Representatives and Delta state House of Assembly have so far failed to sufficiently justify the
trust and mandate generously bestowed upon them by the people in 2023. Effective representation is not measured by media presence or sporadic benevolence but by transparent stewardship of public resources, impactful Constituency projects and consistent legislative advocacy that improves the lives of constituents. Regrettably, there has been no comprehensive or detailed public account of constituency allowances, intervention funds or project allocations due to Isoko North/South Federal Constituency. Instead, what the people have witnessed are cheap tokenistic gestures paraded as achievements, activities more suitable for public relations than for genuine development. Charity must never be substituted for accountability and handouts must never replace sustainable constituency impact.
Isoko people must demand higher standards in 2027 and insist that political representation must return to it’s core purpose “SERVICE, ACCOUNTABILITY And RESULTS ‘
If we keep choosing the same way, we will keep getting the same results.
The good news however is the emergence of a political emancipator in the person of Arc. Barr. James Akporero who has indicated his interest to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 National Assembly elections.
James Akporero is not new in the politics of Delta state. For instance, Akporero who holds multiple degrees in Architecture, law, Business Administration and Mathematics in view started as a senior legislative aide to Hon Leo Ogor whom he ran against in the House of Reps primaries in 2003. He later became an aide to the former speaker of Delta state House of Assembly, late Rt. Hon. Y. D. Igbrude from 2004 to 2006, In 2006, he contested the primaries of PDP Delta State House of Assembly and a consensus was reached by the Emmanuel Ogidi led State PDP that the Late Tim Owhefere be given the ticket. Upwardly mobile James Akporero went on to serve as Head, Corporate Affairs at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission (DESOPADEC). Desirous of contributing his quota to the progress of Delta State, Akporero resigned to contest the Delta South Senatorial Primary election with then incumbent Senator James Manager in the 2011 general elections. But his bid to represent Delta South in the Senate was not successful. He later defected to the labour party and emerged as the candidate for Isoko North/South Federal Constituency in the 2011 general elections. Moving on, James Akporero joined Nestoil, Nigeria’s largest indigenous Engineering Procurement, Construction and Commissioning Company where he served as Manager Obi Jackson Foundation. Again in 2019, Akporero returned to the PDP and attempted to represent Isoko North constituency at the Delta state House of Assembly. Even though he failed to secure the ticket, he ran a robust campaign tagged “Liberation 2019” Among the aspirants who ran for that election, the general consensus was that Arc. Barr. James Akporero scored high on integrity, generosity, competence, character, accessibility, intellectual capacity, political maturity and grassroots connectivity.
Beyond business and politics, Akporero through the James Akporero Foundation has over the years distinguished himself through extensive philanthropic initiatives. His intervention include sponsorship of WAEC and JAMB registration fees for indigent students, setting up centres and paying 161 teachers from Isoko North and Isoko South to prepare students for WAEC and JAMB, distribution of exercise books to students across schools in Isoko nation, empowerment of youths and humanitarian assistance to vulnerable homes.
There is no gainsaying the fact that Akporero has demonstrated tact and deep understanding of the nuances of Isoko and Delta politics judging from his experience and grassroots connectivity. It can therefore be safely said that more than any of the other aspirants in the race for the Isoko North/South House of Representatives seat, Akporero understands isoko development history, the potentials, challenges and prospects for growth.
As a qualified Architect, lawyer, Publisher and Nollywood actor, he has the creativity, resourcefulness, intellectual capacity and leadership skills to address them and offer purposeful representation to Isoko Federal Constituency
Arc. Barr. James Akporero, Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC aspirant for Isoko North/South Federal Constituency stands out as one politician with the best resume to project Isoko Federal Constituency to enviable heights.
He is the Change Isoko Federal Constituency needs, the Voice Isoko people deserve come 2027.
