The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, describing his passing as a great loss to Delta State, the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large.
The National Chairman of PANDEF, Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, expressed the organisation’s condolences in a letter dated October 19, 2026, addressed to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
In the letter titled “Letter of Commiseration on the Death of His Excellency, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan,” Igali described the late former governor as a close associate and personal friend with whom he maintained a cordial relationship over the years.
Igali recalled that both men served as Secretaries to their respective state governments at the same time, adding that their relationship remained cordial until Uduaghan’s death.
He described the deceased as an exceptional leader whose commitment to the people of Delta State was unwavering.
According to him, Uduaghan played significant roles both as Secretary to the State Government and as governor, particularly in promoting peace and stability in the Niger Delta during a period of heightened militancy in the region.
The PANDEF chairman noted that the former governor’s contributions to governance and regional stability would remain an important part of the history of Delta State and the Niger Delta.
He said Uduaghan’s death was not only a major loss to Delta State but also to the entire Niger Delta and Nigeria.
Igali prayed that the late governor’s legacy of service to God and humanity would endure, adding that his contributions would remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
Quoting Philippians 4:7 of the Bible, the PANDEF chairman urged the bereaved family and the people of Delta State to find comfort in God during the period of mourning.
He also requested that his deepest condolences be conveyed to the Uduaghan family and the people of Delta State.
“May his soul find eternal rest in the bosom of our Lord,” Igali stated in the letter.
