A middle aged man identified as Joseph Fekala has been arrested by the Police for alleged murder of his girlfriend at the Okaka suburb of Yenagoa the capital of Bayelsa State.
He was said to have strangled her to death and buried her in a shallow grave in his bedroom.
A source told our correspondent that he was apprehended by his neighbours when they didn’t see her.
It was revealed that the boy killed her over a N50,000 debt.
She sells clothes so he was owing her N50,000 and she went to get the money yesterday and no one heard from her till this morning when the mother went looking for her at the boy’s house and saw the shallow grave that’s when she raised the alarm.
Until her death, she was a member of Christ Embassy while Joseph was a youth pastor at the same church. He isn’t a Yahoo boy as reported in many quarters.
The Police Spokesman SP Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident in a statement , according to him “Joseph Fekala 27 years of Ikibiri Community, but residing at OKAKA, strangled one Kate Ogwoh f 26 years to death on 28 July 2022. He buried the deceased in a shallow grave in his bedroom.
“The suspect was arrested following a tip off by neighbours on 29 July 2022, at about 0800 hours. He is being detained at the State Criminal investigation Department. Investigation is ongoing”
