NPC targets 10,000 Ad-Hoc staff in Bayelsa   As it starts e-recruitment

As a built-up to the National Population and Housing Census slated for April 2023, the National Population Commission (NPC) in Bayelsa state is targeting over 10,000 Ad-Hoc staffs in the ongoing e-recruitment exercise in the state.

The federal commissioner of National Population commission Bayelsa state Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo who disclosed this in a press briefing in her office in Yenagoa said that NPC is posit to deliver to the nation the first fully digital and green census in 2023. She explained that all processes were being driven by technology as the e-recruitment method would be used to engage Ad-Hoc staff for the census.

Izonfuo stated that the recruitment would be drawn from applicants across the eight Local Government Areas of the state as they will be deployed to cover every locality in the Local Government Areas of the state.

The federal commissioner disclosed that the e-registration commenced on October 31st 2022 and will end December 28th 2022 adding that interested applicants should register online on the National Population Commission e-recruitment portal http://2023censusadhocrecruitment.nationalpopulation.gov.ng

According to Izonfuo, positions open to applicants include Enumerators, Supervisors, Quantity Assurance Officers, Data Managers, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, Training Centre Administrators, Field Coordinators, And Facilitators.

“Each of these positions have requisite qualifying requirement across board and to be eligible for registration, a candidate is required to meet the following criteria; Be a Nigerian between age of 20 and 50, have a National identification number (NIN) have phone and email numbers, ability to write and read in English. Others are minimum educational qualification of SSCE, ICT compliant basic literacy in mathematics and a functional commercial bank account.” She added.

She equally hinted that NPC is determined to get it right in 2023 census as the commission is desirous to deliver a credible reliable and acceptable census; adding that no effort has been spared in the bid to attract and recruit the best functionaries for the exercise.

Izonfua noted that training of functionaries would be tailored towards producing the best for the exercise as trainees will be tested frequently online as the result of these test will be used to select the final set of functionaries for the census.

She explained that various enlightenment campaigns are being deployed to sensitize the people on the ongoing e-recruitment exercise, pointing out that the use of traditional mass media, social media and community town criers to get to streets and markets were part of the measures adopted so that Bayelsans will be well informed of the e-recruitment exercise in the state.
