The Community Pharmacists have moved beyond the traditional role of Medication Dispensing and are now recognized as front line Health care provider, Public Health Advocate, Medication Expert and critical partners in promoting healthier communities.
The Chairman Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) Akwa Ibom State Branch, Pharm. Nsikak Edet Effiong FPC Pharm, made this known at the 5th Annual State Scientific Conference of Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria Akwa Ibom State Branch in Uyo.
Pharm. Nsikak said towards the Development the community pharmacists are uniquely positioned to improve health outcome, strengthen public health initiative and champion Patient centered care.
According to him, as we reflect on this importance theme, let us recognize that empowering community pharmacist extends beyond the expansion of professional responsibilities, it is about equipping pharmacist with the skill, resources, recognition and opportunities necessary to make meaningful contribution to healthcare system and National Development.
The Clan Head of Ndiya, Ikono Local Government Area, His Royal Highness Bassey Okon Bassey Okoridem commended the Association for their Hard work despite the uphill task still stands their ground without relenting being recognized as frontline healthcare provider moving beyond the traditional role of medication dispensing and believe in the nearest future there would be more than that, saying they are important as far as the health sector is concerned.
The Royal Father used the opportunity commended them again for educating the students through their program understanding the effect and danger of drug abuse not to jeopardize their education acknowledging they are our future leaders.
The founder and chairman of everyday foods group, Dr. Magnus Nnaemeka Chukwukezie said the community Pharmacists have passion for their profession and has worked tirelessly becoming recognized as frontline healthcare provider despite the challenges experienced should continue keep the flag flying assisting tremendously in the health sectors of the state while commended the students to take advantage understand the effect and danger of drug abuse would also relate the message to their colleagues eradicating the entire system gradually to witness better society in future.
