Agbayama Fc of Ekeremor and Osokoma Fc of Southern Ijaw LGAs are through to the quarter finals of the ongoing Bayelsa State Governor’s Cup tagged “Prosperity Cup” Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football competition.

In their match decided at the Kaiama centre, Agbayama Fc spanked wasteful Akaba Fc by 2-0 in the first match of the day,the Ekeremor LGA side broke the deadlock in 33 minutes through Collins Aweh.

Peter Ebi doubled the lead for Agbayama Fc from a Benjamin Mutuka cross in 62 minutes, ensuring that his team did not leave the ancient city of Kaiama empty handed.

Akaba Fc would have gotten one back from Tomton Ebi- Elisah but fired wide in front of an open goal reminiscent of Yakubu Ayegbeni’s miss in the 2010 world cup in South Africa.

In the second match of the day Osokoma Fc beat 4-3 Agbere Fc on penalties after a one all draw in regulation time.

Agbere Fc took the lead in the 55th minutes through Jonathan Mobiniton after a cagey halftime that was filled with displays of skills.

However, Tonye Williams almost restored parity for Osokoma Fc in 62 minutes but was saved by the agile Agbere Fc goaltender who had wonderful game.

Despite being 1-0 down,Osokoma Fc relentlessly mounted pressure on the Ebi Amula’s tutored Agbere Fc sisewho were defensively solid at the back.

When it looked like Agbere Fc were going to progress to the quarterfinals, Osokoma Fc leveled up from a Preye Ayaowei’s header through Newman Bobo’s corner kick in the 78 minutes to send jubilant Osokoma Fc fans into wild celebrations.

Agbayama Fc will now play the winner of Anyama Fc and Agboro Fc in the quarter finals.
