The 83/84 class of Aguda Grammar School has commissioned renovated projects in their Alma-mater in Lagos.

The President, Mr. Uwem Obot in his speech delivered on behalf of Aguda Old Students Association on the occasion of the commissioning of the projects tagged Renovation and Optimisation Projects said Aguda Grammar School was founded by Alhaji Lateef Jakande, popularly called ” Baba Kereke” in 1980 as the governor of Lagos state from 1979–1983 who revolutionized education in Lagos State by implementing a comprehensive free and compulsory education policy and rapidly building over 118 additional secondary schools and constructed over 22,000 classrooms to eliminate the restrictive multi-shift school system which comprised the inefficient afternoon only and morning only staggered shift system, transitioning schools to a standard morning session education.

He informed that thousands of children through his education revolution became educated and got the opportunity of competing with their peers who attended private schools.

According to Mr. Uwem, originally Aguda Grammar School was a single institution, the school complex later expanded and split into multiple schools due to student population growth.

The 83/84 set are the pioneer students of the school adding that the purpose of the association is to unite former students, foster lifelong bonds, encourage networking, and support infrastructural or developmental projects for our alma mater.

The Project” comprises construction of 50 chairs, 50 tables and renovation of the male and female toilets which he described as a shining example of what happens when old students and educators unite with a single focus.

The AGOSA President expressed profound gratitude to every member of the association for their financial contributions, moral support, prayers and labour, love which ensured that the project was executed.

He specifically thanked the Project Manager, Mr. Skey Sunday Asiegbu and his able efficient Assistant, Godwin Ogwa and all members of the Renovation Committee for a job well done.

To the students, Mr. Uwem said this facility is for you and officially handed over the project to the school administration and promised to execute more projects in the future.

Mr. Uwem thanked everyone and pray God to bless Aguda Grammar School, Lagos State; “Eco oni baje” and. Nigeria!

Earlier, the School Principal,—– in his welcome address thanked the old students for coming to the rescue of their Alma-mater saying that they have made the school proud and prayed God to lift them to higher level of leadership in Jesus name to do more for humanity.
