Port Harcourt, Nigeria – June 21, 2025 — The Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. Goodluck Iheamnacho, has dismissed as false and misleading, reports claiming he has resigned from his position.
Speaking during a live radio interview on Rhythm FM Port Harcourt on Saturday morning, Iheamnacho categorically denied authoring or signing any resignation letter and urged members of the public to disregard the document circulating on social media.
“I want to make it clear that I have not resigned,” Iheamnacho stated. “I am still the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East, carrying out my duties diligently. That letter is fake, and I urge everyone to treat it as the handiwork of mischief-makers who are desperate to cause confusion.”
The controversy erupted after a letter dated June 20, 2025, purportedly signed by Iheamnacho and addressed to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, went viral online. The letter claimed that the administrator was stepping down from office to “pursue private sector engagements” and expressed gratitude to The Sole Administrator of Rivers State Ibok-Ete Ibas and the people of Ahoada East for the opportunity to serve.
But Iheamnacho vehemently disowned the letter, alleging that it may have been fabricated following a recent break-in at his office.
“Just two days ago, my office was forcefully invaded by unknown hoodlums who carted away sensitive documents and personal effects,” he revealed. “I suspect that the so-called resignation letter emanated from that unfortunate breach. It is clear someone is trying to capitalize on the situation to push a false narrative.”
The embattled administrator described the incident as part of a larger plot to destabilize the local government administration and called on security agencies to investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Let it be known that I have no intention of resigning,” he reiterated. “Those behind this will be unmasked and prosecuted. I remain committed to the mandate given to me by the Rivers State Government and will not be distracted by cowardly acts.”
Efforts to get a reaction from the Rivers State Ministry of Local Government Affairs were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report. However, a senior official who spoke anonymously said the government was aware of the circulating letter and was verifying its authenticity.
Political analysts believe the latest development may be linked to ongoing tensions between rival factions within the state, amid a backdrop of heightened political realignment in Rivers State.
Meanwhile, residents of Ahoada East have expressed concern over the growing uncertainty surrounding the leadership of the LGA, urging the state government to take swift action to restore order and assure the public of governance stability.
As the drama unfolds, all eyes remain on the Rivers State Government for an official position regarding the alleged resignation and security breach at the Ahoada East council headquarters.
