The Akwa Ibom State Government has received commendation for its commitment to improving educational infrastructure, particularly through the construction of additional classroom blocks aimed at reducing overcrowding in public schools.

Principal of Christian Secondary Commercial School, Uyo, Mr. Steve John Akpabio, made this known during an interview with journalists in Uyo. He applauded the state government for providing the school with three new classroom blocks, stating that the initiative would significantly reduce overcrowding and create an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.

According to him, the new structures will allow professional teachers to perform their duties without distractions, thus empowering students to excel academically and grow into responsible leaders.

“The government has done well. These classroom blocks will go a long way in easing the congestion we used to experience. With this support and qualified teachers in place, our students can now learn better and reach their academic goals,” he said.

Mr. Akpabio assured that the school would collaborate with the host community to safeguard the facilities. He emphasized the importance of community vigilance in preventing vandalism and protecting public infrastructure.

“I am a Christian and I do not believe in diabolical means of protection. I hand everything over to God, who alone can safeguard these facilities. Even if others engage in such practices elsewhere, I will continue to rely on divine protection,” he said.

He further described the government’s effort to build modern schools across the three senatorial districts of the state as a laudable move, affirming that it reflects the seriousness of the administration in revamping the educational sector.

Mr. Akpabio, who recently received the Governor’s Award of Excellence in the education sector, revealed that public schools in the state, including his, have recorded improved performances in public examinations such as WAEC and NECO.

“Our school has continued to perform excellently because of the presence of committed and qualified teachers who work tirelessly and are passionate about their profession. I urge parents to continue patronizing public schools with confidence,” he said.

He also called on members of the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around the school premises.

“If you see something, say something. This school belongs to the community, and we must all join hands to protect it from miscreants and vandals,” he advised.
