The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has uncovered an illegal maternity home engaged in child trafficking, unlawful medical practice, and impersonation in Usung Atiat, Abak Local Government Area.

Acting on credible intelligence, security operatives launched an investigation that led to the arrest of one Patience Ene Jimmy, who was allegedly harboring several pregnant women and five infants aged between two weeks and one year. The victims reportedly came from different parts of the state.

Further searches at the facility uncovered various medical supplies, including syringes, drip lines, herbal mixtures, and immunization records—items for which the suspect had no legal authorization.

The rescued women and children have been placed under protective care while investigations continue to identify and apprehend others involved in the illicit operation.

Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling such criminal networks despite the challenges faced. He assured that the police would intensify efforts to track down individuals perpetrating crimes that threaten the safety and well-being of citizens.

CP Azare urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities, emphasizing that the police remain committed partners in ensuring a safer society.

He further assured that justice would be served without compromise, stressing that the command operates tirelessly to maintain peace and security across the state.
