The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday approved new dates for the postponed elective congresses of the party’s Rivers State chapter.
The new dates were disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Morka said the dates were approved at the meeting of the National Working Committee held on Wednesday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
According to the revised schedule, Rivers APC will now hold its ward congress on November 16, 2024.
The local government area congress will follow a week later, specifically on November 23, while the state congress will take place on Saturday, November 30.
The congresses are crucial in determining the party’s leadership at various levels as the APC continues its preparations for future elections.
The outcome of these congresses is expected to set the tone for the party’s organisational structure in the state ahead of both local and national political engagements.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa state APC chapter is yet to get a date for its congresses.
An official who do not want his name on print, said the national secretariat has not given a go ahead for the state congresses to be held.
The Bayelsa APC is factionalised between the current minister of state for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Senator Henieken Lokopbiri and the former governor Chief Timipre Sylva .
