Ayakoro community in Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State is to benefit from IFAD assisted Livelihood improvement Family Enterprise in the Niger Delta ( LIFE-ND) in agri business as well as light infrastructure projects such mini culvert , mini jetty, agro production processing facilities and market stalls.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Panebi Ugo, Bayelsa state project coordinator stated that the essence of the visit was to intimate the community of the activities of LIFE–ND project and also to profile youths within the age bracket of 18 to 35 years into the project with respect to their chosen commodity.
Dr.Ugo explained that the project is a training programme for youths who have keen interest in agri business, adding that programme adopts the incubation model which is synonymous with Igbo empowerment template.
In his word “ after the training, beneficiaries are being supported with agro inputs depending on their chosen commodity to start up their business and be self reliant”.
He added that selected beneficiaries will be trained in nutrition, climate change and financial inclusion to make them better equipped.
The Bayelsa State coordinator of LIFE-ND thanked the community for the hospitality accorded the team.
Responding, the paramount ruler of Ayakoro community, His Royal Highness Chief Righteous Inegbagha expressed his heartfelt gratitude to LIFE -ND for finding his community worthy to from this noble initiative.
He stated that the project will ensure peace, employment and growth of the community youths and promised to do all that is necessary for the project to have a sound footing in the community.
Also speaking, the youth president , Comrade Joshua said the intervention a life changing project because in his assessment it has the potential of transforming the lifes of many youths in the community, pointing out that the intervention will have a far reaching effects on the community as it will help in reducing societal vices such as drug abuse, criminality and jobleesness and pledged his support to the success of the project in the community.
Highlight of the occasion was the profiling of community youths into different agro business of interest.
