Ayamasa Community Goes Agog For Diri As Izon Music Icon Pereama, Others Drum Support
Ayamasa Town, the maternal community of the Bayelsa State Governor and Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 11 Govbernorship Election, Senator Douye Diri, went agog at the weekend when the party’s campaign team visited the community.
In a jubilant mood, the Chiefs and people of the sprawling community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state, rolled out the drums to receive their son and members of the governor’s campaign council to round off his campaigns in the area.
Speaker after speaker including Izon music maestro, King Pereama Freetown and the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Development, Chief Thompson Amule, commended the PDP for providing the opportunity for Senator Diri to emerge as Governor.
Similarly, the Acting Chief of Staff, Government House, Yenagoa, Pastor Peter Akpe, and the Director, Special Duties and Government House Transport, Mr Lucky Youbogha, thanked the people of the state for supporting their son to succeed in his first term in office.
They expressed confidence that Governor Diri would be re-elected in the forthcoming election following the Prosperity Administration’s impressive performance and the overwhelming support it enjoys across the state.
The Community assured that they would give the PDP and its governorship candidate total support in appreciation of what it has benefited from the Senator Diri-led government in the last three years.
In his response, Goverrnor Douye Diri, who had earlier inaugurated a state-of-the-art technical school and a concrete road in Ayamasa Community, expressed gratitude to his maternal kinsmen for the honour done him and his campaign team.
Also addressing the carnival-like gathering, his Deputy and Running mate, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, urged the people of Ayamasa to give their son a greater sense of belonging by ensuring that they all cast and zealously defend their votes for the PDP in the November Election.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who highlighted some projects initiated and completed by the Prosperity Administration in Ayamasa and other neighbouring communities, assured the people of more development in Governor Diri’s second term.
Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expressed gratitude to God for saving the lives of four PDP supporters who were involved in a ghastly motor accident on Thursday on their way to join the Governorship campaigns in Ekeremor Constituency Three.
Speaking through his deputy , Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, during a visit to the accident victims at a private hospital in Yenagoa, Governor Diri, described their survival as God’s miracle and abiding grace upon his administration.
A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Mr Doubara Atasi, noted that the Governor also commended the hospital management and staff for giving the desired attention to the victims.
The statement clarified that all the four persons involved were responding well to treatment, adding that none of them died as being speculated in some quarters.
The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Solomon Agwanana and some members of the Diri/Law Campaign Council, including a Director of Strategy and Planning, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite, were among those who accompanied the Deputy Governor on the visit.
