BAYELSA COMMUNITY HEALTH PRACTITIONERS CONCLUDE FIVE DAY ACTIVITIES.
The Bayelsa State Chapter of the National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria has concluded a five day programme to mark the 2023 health week of the association in the State.The programme kick started from 11th September 2023 featured community medical outreach, lecture and other activities.
Chairman of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Association Dr Doris Dotimi who is also an Associate Professor in Community Health charged the State Government to prioritise the employment of qualified lisenced community health practitioners to meet global standards, provide residential quarters for community health practitioners as well as provide affordable drugs for the rural dwellers to ease the stress of the Practitioners.
The week was anchored on the theme: Community Based Newborn Care: Roles of Community Health Practitioners as the forum afforded opportunities for various speakers to cross fertilize ideas on community health practice and the way forward.
The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity. Hon. Stanley Braboke, Head of Service of the Bayelsa State Civil Service represented by the Permanent Secretary in charge of Pension Bureau, National President of the Association, represented by his Vice, Dr. Nengi Brown, the Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Williams Appah, Chairman, Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comr. Laye Julius and other stakeholders lauded the association for the programme.
Participants at the five day long event who shared their gains commended the State leadership for the opportunity to learn new trends to felicitate effective community health care practices.
The programme was brought to a close by a lecture/ Dinner on Academics and career prospects of the community health profession, a special variety session, old school celebrations, dance and thanksgiving.
