The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has applauded the Prosperity Pilot Initiative (PPI) for being in the vanguard of spreading the gospel of prosperity in a mature and effective manner.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo gave the compliments on Thursday when he granted audience to the leadership of the PPI at his office in Government House, Yenagoa.

He noted that through their unrelenting efforts at publicizing the various projects of the Governor Douye Diri-led Prosperity Administration in the state, so much mileage had been achieved in disseminating the right information on the legacy projects of government so far.

According to the Bayelsa Number Two man, the PPI has immensely articulated the central policy thrust of the present administration over the last three years, through billboards, publications and other means of communication.

Emphasizing that society could only be progressive when its people are sacrificial minded, Senator Ewhrudjakpo described what the group had done so far without seeking any support from government, as undiluted patriotism and love for the state.

Aligning himself with their proposal to take the publicity work to every nook and cranny of the state, he assured that government would give them the necessary support to sustain their effective political messaging.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Prosperity Pilot Initiative, Barrister Rhodesia Whyte, and its Secretary, Mr Austin Adigio, said the pressure group was deliberately formed to properly articulate the various projects of the Prosperity Administration.

Describing Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as the best Deputy Governor in the political history of the state, Barrister Whyte disclosed that the group would soon embark on what he called “Operation Show Your PVCs” to drum up support for the reelection of the Governor and the Deputy Governor.

They solicited support to produce more publicity materials for the LGAs and the planting of 5,000 trees along the just-completed section of the New Yenagoa Gateway Road from Igbogene to the Amassoma-Tombia-Etegwe Road for aesthetic and ecological purposes.

In a related development, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo has commended the Ofoni Prosperity Youth Network for coming together to build grassroots solidarity for Governor Douye Diri and his deputy ahead of the November 11 gubernatorial election in the state.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who spoke when a 42-man delegation of the Association visited him in Government House, Yenagoa, thanked them for coming out early enough to play a frontal role in the impending campaigns.

The Deputy Governor, however, stressed the need for them to always tread on the path of honour, hardwork and integrity in their effort to ensure a landslide victory for the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming governorship election.

He said: “You must avoid pride, arrogance and ‘we have already won mentality’ in your campaigns. Just go around to tell the people what this government has done. Because there are so many things to tell our people.

“You must have the right attitude to achieve what you want. Don’t quarrel with the people on the other side, who don’t have any good message other than lies to tell the people. Thank God the majority of the people in Bayelsa know the difference between them and us.”

Earlier in their separate remarks, the Patron of the Ofoni Prosperity Youth Network, Mr Maurice Dovieme, and the President, Mr Awhowho Ezra Efe, appreciated Senator Ewhrudjakpo for his contributions to the development of the community.

They explained that the Ofoni Prosperity Youth Network was formed as a grassroots platform to drum up support for the Prosperity Administration in view of its impressive infrastructural and human capital development projects and programmes.

They reassured the Deputy Governor of their resolve to stand by him and the Governor to take the campaigns to the people for an overwhelming electoral victory come November 11.

The highpoint of the meeting was the decoration of Senator Ewhrudjakpo as the Grand Patron of the Ofoni Prosperity Youth Network, which was jointly done by the President and Patron of the group.
