Bayelsa govt warns Speculators against selling government lands
The Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government who also doubles as the Overseer of the Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Board, Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei has called on land speculators to stay clear of the Central Business District (CDB) in the city of Yenagoa to avoid being prosucuted.
Alabo Ekeuwei stated this, during a management meeting at the Conference Room of the Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Board in Yenagoa.
According to the SSG, the Central Business District is an area that span through from the Imgbi roundabout to Swali, back to the NNPC Fuel Station by the Julius Berger from the Oxbow lake area.
Alabo Ekeuwei also informed that the idea of the Central Business District (C D B) was conceptualized during the Chief DSP Alamieyesiehgha’s administration that came to fruition during the Dr.Goodluck Jonathan’s era, when the Capitap City Development Authority (CCDA) was established.
He said, the area in question is a business District that is under the supervision of the Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Board, pointing out that anyone caught trying to sell a plot of land or deviate from the original plan of the area would be prosucuted according to the law establishing the Board.
He also used the medium to call on developers that own Land on both sides along the Glory Drive to exercise some patience as the state government would soon come up a Plan of the area in question to guide their development.
He said, just recently, Governor Douye Diri proclaimed the area as a Development Planning Area, stressing that, the declaration is for the betterment of all Bayelsans as a new Yenagoa city of our dreams would come into being.
According to him, “the present state of Yenagoa doesn’t fit well as a state capital, but with the Proclamation of the governor, the right thing to planning a city would be adhered to”.
