
Bayelsa PDP Caretaker Committee to Inaugurate New Secretariat, Welcome Defectors May 26
Yenagoa, May 6, 2025 — The Caretaker Committee (CTC) of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to commission a new state party secretariat and formally welcome new members and defectors into its fold on May 26, 2025.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the State Working Caretaker Committee held Tuesday in Yenagoa, the state capital. The meeting was presided over by the Acting State Chairman of the PDP, Barr. George Turnah (MON).
A statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the CTC, Mr. Derri Alasuote Wright, indicated that the inauguration of the new secretariat and the reception of defectors will coincide with a meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) aimed at reorganizing and strengthening the party’s structure in the state.
“After thorough discussions on pressing matters affecting the party in Bayelsa State, and the critical need to revitalize and reposition the party, the committee resolved to convene a SEC meeting, commission the new state secretariat, and formally welcome new members into the PDP on May 26, 2025,” the statement read.
