The Barr. George Alabh Turnah-led Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has applauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, and members of the G5 for their firm commitment to the unity and survival of the party.

In a statement issued by the State Caretaker Committee’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Derri Alasuote Wright, the party lauded the outcome of the strategic meeting convened in Abuja on Monday, June 9, 2025, which brought together key leaders and stakeholders of the PDP.

Describing the meeting as a clear sign of Wike’s unwavering loyalty to the PDP and his consistent stand against impunity, the statement read:

> “This meeting, which brought together eminent leaders and concerned stakeholders of the party, is a testament to the unwavering love Wike has for the PDP and his relentless fight for justice. His dedication to the party’s principles stands him out and has endeared him to all genuinely committed members of the party nationwide.”

The Bayelsa PDP chapter reaffirmed its full endorsement of the resolutions reached at the Abuja meeting, including the continued recognition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the substantive National Secretary of the PDP.

> “We state clearly that there is no vacancy requiring any replacement whatsoever. The PDP Constitution and the recent Supreme Court ruling on this matter are unambiguous.”

The statement further reiterated the chapter’s support for zoning the 2027 presidential ticket of the PDP to the southern region, describing it as a bold and strategic decision that aligns with the party’s principles of justice, fairness, and inclusivity.

> “This strategic move not only reflects our commitment to inclusivity and fairness but also ensures that the party remains attuned to the collective aspirations of Nigerians across regions.”

Reaffirming its unwavering loyalty to the decisions of the Abuja parley, the Bayelsa PDP declared its continued support for Wike as a national leader of the party and for Senator Anyanwu’s role as National Secretary.

> “Bayelsa State PDP reaffirms its loyalty to the resolutions of this meeting and remains steadfast in its support for Nyesom Wike as our national leader, as well as our endorsement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary. Together, we will forge ahead with renewed vigour to restore the PDP to its rightful place as a beacon of hope and justice for our people and our nation,” the statement concluded.
