Bayelsa State Sports Festival tagged Access Bank prosperity Unity Games Torch of Unity on Friday landed in Brass, Nembe and Ogbia Local Government Areas in a tour ahead of the commencement of the fiesta from 25th to 1st April, 2023.
The Torch of Unity arrived at the headquarters of the three Local Government Areas and was received by the various Heads of councils of the LGA’s amidst a brief reception and ceremony by athletes.
The Festival Torch of Unity is a symbol of oneness that unites every local government and athlete which also indicates readiness for the inaugural version of the Olympic games sponsored by Access Bank.
Receiving the Torch of Unity in their various Local Government Councils, Head of Local Government Brass LGA, Mr Tiwei Tuamokumo , Mr Ndiomu Bibobara Alex of Ogbia Local and Nembe counterpart, Mr Davidson Sunday Baratuaipre, said they are prepared for the showpiece and that the three LGA’s would leave nothing to chance to excel in the fiesta.
They thanked the sponsors Access Bank and the Bayelsa State government for giving priority to sports development in the State, assuring them of a perfect festival.
In a remark, the leader of the delegation, Andrew Roger, urged athletes to be good ambassadors to their local governments by displaying professionalism throughout the fiesta.
He equally charged them to abide by the rules of the game and not get involved in drugs and other related wrong doings that is capable of tarnishing their image and that of the competition.
The Access Bank Prosperity Unity Games will feature fourteen sports, athletics, boxing, canoeing, Judo, Football, Chess, Karate, table tennis, draught, swimming taekwondo, scrabble,para swimming, wrestling and weightlifting in five venues.
Earlier in the day, the Bayelsa State Sports Festival Torch of Unity was also taken to Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas.
