enagoa, Bayelsa State – Concerned families have raised alarm over the activities of fraudsters and land grabbers allegedly parading as landlords and selling lands illegally along the Gateway Road leading to the New Yenagoa City Area, across the Epie Creek, opposite Amarata and Onopa communities’ old settlements.

In a public notice issued by representatives of the Ikpokpo family of Amarata and the Ezekiel family of Yenizuegene, the families warned unsuspecting individuals, corporate bodies, government officials, and security agencies to be cautious when engaging in land transactions in the affected area.
According to the statement, the disputed land was the subject of a legal battle in Suit No: YHC/237/2007 at the Bayelsa State High Court, Yenagoa Judicial Division. The court ruled in favor of the undersigned families, confirming their rightful ownership of the land.
However, despite the judgment, certain individuals have allegedly continued to mislead the public, attempting to sell portions of the land under false pretenses.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we hereby notify members of the public that some irredeemable fraudsters and land grabbers are on the prowl with the intent to swindle people, falsely claiming to be landlords of the lands along Gateway Road,” the statement read.

The families urged prospective buyers and relevant authorities to exercise due diligence and seek clarification before engaging in any transactions concerning the land.

The statement was signed by:
Mr. Yakie Odumgba & Mr. Robert Victor (For: Ikpokpo Family, Amarata) and
Chief Goodluck Ezekiel & Mr. Atigburuze Egbo (For: Ezekiel Family, Yenizuegene)
It warned Residents and stakeholders are advised to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudulent land transactions.
