The Special Adviser on Youths to the Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Udengs Eradiri, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the NDDC for completing the abandoned 1050-bed hostel project at the University of Uyo (UNIUYO).

Eradiri, a former President, Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide, said by completing the project Buhari, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Interim Administrator, NDDC, Effiong Akwa, had demonstrated their desire to alleviate the sufferings of students.

The former Commissioner in Bayelsa State in a statement on Thursday to mark the inauguration of the project said NDDC was the only federal government agency to have completed three world class project in a single year.

He said: “I am super excited about this project which is a world class facility to accommodate students under a conducive environment.

“I must say that this is one of the over  1900 abandoned projects across the Niger Delta which my boss has picked up to complete under the ministerial supervision of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

“The timely delivery of this project is what we need in the Niger Delta if truly we want our region to be developed which I must commend my boss for ensuring laudable projects like this see the light of the  day.

“May I also say that the NDDC is the only government agency that has in a single year delivered three world class projects for the President to commission.

NDDC in a single year completed the 13-storey headquarters building which was abandoned for 21years; the Special Protection Unit 64 flats accommodation for the Nigerian Police Force in Rivers State which was also an abandoned project for 11 years and now this 1050 bed space hostel; indeed the NDDC is now living its dream of making a difference”.
