Cross River APC Endorses Governor Bassey Otu for 2027 Gubernatorial Election
The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unanimously endorsed Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 gubernatorial election. The announcement was made on Monday during a press briefing at the party’s secretariat in Calabar.
Addressing journalists, the State Chairman of the APC, Alphonsus Eba, emphasized the leadership qualities, loyalty, and impressive governance track record of the governor and his deputy. He described their tenure as a winning formula, stating, “Nobody changes a winning team.”
Eba urged all party members and support groups to intensify grassroots mobilization in preparation for the upcoming election. He also reaffirmed the party’s position against unauthorized legal actions carried out in its name, warning against any internal disputes that could disrupt party unity.
In response to concerns about political inclusivity, the APC leadership assured members that other elective positions remain open for contest, except for the governorship and deputy governorship seats, which have been exclusively reserved for Otu and Odey.
“It’s almost one year and ten months in office, and we have seen the impact of our choice. One good term deserves another. That is why, in the presence of the Peregrino Government House, the State Working Committee, and the State Executive Committee, we have met, deliberated, and resolved that Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu is our sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election,” Eba declared.
The endorsement signals the APC’s confidence in Governor Otu’s administration and sets the stage for early preparations towards the 2027 election in Cross River State.
