Diri Charges Bayelsa United ahead of Cynosure clash
***Promises Double Winning Bonus For The Team***
Bayelsa state Governor Douye Diri has charged players of reigning Aiteo Cup Champions Bayelsa United to go all out for victory on Saturday against Cynosure FC of Abakaliki.
Governor Diri gave the charge on Thursday during the team’s training session at the Samson Siasia Stadium ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Ebonyi based side.
The governor while congratulating the management and technical crew of the team for a job well done, said he was elated to see the Yenagoa based side queue into the Prosperity administrations mantra.
He urged the players to give their best against Cynosure Fc who are currently placed 8th on the log, stating that the essence of his visit was to spur them to ensure that the team finishes strong by returning to the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL.
The Bayelsa state helmsman noted that Bayelsans are eagerly waiting for the team to return to the NPFL after serving in the lower division, pointing out that finishing second place would not befit the pedigree of the team.
Senator Diri also promised to double the players allowance as well as host them if they secure the deserved victory on Saturday.
In the meantime, Technical adviser of Bayelsa United Diepreye Teibowei says there will be no hiding place for Cynosure FC in the final group B2 of the Nigeria National League NNL.
Teibowei in a pre match interview remarked that beating Cynosure Fc will provide another opportunity for the club to rewrite the state’s name in gold.
Also, Goalkeeper John Shaibu said they will approach the game like a world cup final having gone so far this season in the current campaign, describing the governor’s visit as a moral boaster.
Shaibu equally thanked the state chief executive for investing in the team, and assured the government and Bayelsans of topflight football next season.
Bayelsa United who were relegated from the NPFL in the 2015/2016 season host Cynosure FC of Abakiliki in the final group game of the season in a must win match for the Prosperity boys as a win would secure NPFL return.
