Edo: EFCC arrests 47 internet fraudsters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters in Ekpoma, Edo State.

According to a statement on Monday via X, the commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate carried out the arrests on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at various locations across the town.

The statement stated that the operation was based on “credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.”

The anti-graft agency disclosed that several items were recovered from the suspects, including 14 exotic cars, laptops, and mobile phones.

The EFCC further stated that the suspects had provided “useful statements” and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The statement said, “Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations in Ekpoma, Edo State.

“The suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

“Items recovered from them include 14 exotic cars, laptops and phones

“They have made useful statements and would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
