Former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ogerenye Ehie, has dismissed claims circulating on social media that he obtained a court order preventing the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from resuming duties at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ehie described the allegation as “obvious fake news” being spread by “delusional minds” seeking to further heighten political tensions in the state. According to him, the claim that he filed a suit challenging the “Presidential Pronouncement of State of Emergency in Rivers State” as unconstitutional is entirely fabricated.

“The malicious post claimed that the alleged order was granted in a fictitious suit I purportedly filed. Ordinarily, I would not have reacted to such an empty social media rant by low-minds and never-do-wells, but it is necessary to save the gullible public from falling for this cheap blackmail and misinformation,” Ehie stated.

He further criticized the authors of the post, alleging that they could not even spell his name correctly or provide any verifiable details about the supposed court case.

“The truth is that even the author is so uneducated and illiterate that he or she cannot correctly spell my name, or the names of others they claim to be writing about, let alone provide the suit number or when it was filed or heard,” he added.

Ehie urged the public to disregard the claims, labeling them as an attempt to create division and misrepresent his stance. He reaffirmed his commitment to peace and lawfulness, stating that he has no intention of engaging in actions that could paint him as a disruptor.

“I have since decided to be law-abiding and conduct my affairs peacefully in accordance with the law, holding strong to my faith and God. I, therefore, urge peace-loving Rivers people and fellow Nigerians to treat this reckless post as a deliberate attempt to invade their cyberspace with unsolicited and vexatious narratives aimed at achieving nothing but hate and anger,” he concluded.

The controversy arises amid heightened political tension in Rivers State following recent developments concerning governance and administrative decisions in the state.
