EPIE/ATISSA Youth Leader Chides Diri Over Neglect Of Oguan
…points out the governors conspicuous absense at historic Uge Gene Festival.
The Yenagoa coordinator of the New Generation Leaders and a former Spokesperson of the Bayelsa Comrade Family, Comrade Odede Charles Precious has expressed worry over what he describes as Gov. Diri’s continued neglect of the Epie/Atissa people.
Odede who is also of the Epie/Atissa Kingdoms stated ‘As a people we have been neglected, used and reduced to second class citizens in the state’
‘Yet we are the landlords of the capital, a capital they have deliberately refused to develop. It is still painful and fresh in our minds that former Governor Dickson called Yenagoa a forest capital’
‘Even Sampou the governors community is now miles ahead of Yenagoa which seems stuck in the past’
‘We have also been ignored in terms of appointments in this administration. I dont even want to talk about empowerment which is quite poor for the Oguan people’
‘But of more concern to me is why Governor Douye Diri did not attend the Uge Gene Epie/Atissa Unity festival, the first ever attempt aimed at unifying both our kingdoms even further’
‘The governor should have attended or made a formal representation or statement, both no attempt was made from Government house. That tells how much we the Oguan people are valued’
‘I urge the prosperity government to begin looking into the plight of the Oguan people. Being the hosts of the capital shouldnt be a curse’
