A former Niger Delta freedom fighter, “General” Barakumo Suowari, has commended the Chairman of Tantita Security Services Limited, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, for displaying patriotism and unique leadership qualities over the years.

Suowari who is the Bayelsa State Chairman of the Third Phase Forum of Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) gave the commendation on Monday in Yenagoa.

In the words of the ex-agitator: “Tompolo has continued to demonstrate uncommon love for the Ijaw Nation, by always preaching and pursuing peace as well as carrying Ijaw people along in the scheme of things.

“His engagement of thousands of youths in the pipeline surveillance contract via Tantita is proof that he loves to empower our people.

“Many youths who were into illegal oil bunkering activities, sea piracy, kidnapping and other vices are now actively involved in securing oil pipelines in the Niger Delta.

“They are now living a better, more responsible life because Tompolo deemed it fit to include capable and willing Niger Delta youths in the ongoing war against oil theft aimed at ramping up oil production.

“Tompolo has tremendously changed countless lives through Tantita and it is therefore not out of place to describe him as the Father of Ijaw Youths.”

Suowari, an indigene of Egbedani community in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, thanked Tompolo for his commitment to revamp the first ancient Ijaw city-state, Agadagba-bou.

Regarded by many – especially adherents of the Ijaw traditional religion – as the holy land of Ijaw nation, Agadagba-bou, is a forest located on Wilberforce Island in the oil-rich state.

“As a son of Egbedani community that owns Agadagba-bou, I am happy that Tompolo is willing to transform the sacred forest into the Mecca and Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation so that Ijaws from far and near can be coming for pilgrimage.

“For some years now, revered Agadagbas from different Kingdoms across the Ijaw Nation led by the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom have been visiting the holy land every December to seek more wisdom to rule their subjects and also pray for the unity and more prosperity of Ijaw Nation.

“We are confident that Tompolo, being a man of his words, will facilitate the rapid transformation of Agadagba-bou. And as youths from KOLGA, we will support GOC wholeheartedly to make his noble vision a reality,” he said.

Suowari also poured encomiums on Tompolo for entrusting the APC deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 Bayelsa guber election, Great Joshua Maclver, aka Izon Tukpa, with the Bayelsa Operations of Tantita, saying the company is thriving in the state under his leadership.

According to him, “Maclver is a transparent and reliable leader who will go any length to actualize Tompolo’s vision: the peace, unity and progress of Ijaw Nation.”
