The Federal Government of Nigeria has set an April 2025 deadline for completing the ongoing dualisation of the East-West Road, particularly Section II-II, which stretches from Ahoada in Rivers State to Kaiama in Bayelsa State.

This directive was issued by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, during his inspection of the project. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed by the contractor, Setraco Nigeria Ltd, but emphasized the need to expedite progress. He instructed the company to deploy additional resources to ensure adherence to the April 2025 completion timeline.

Furthermore, in areas prone to flooding along the road, the Minister recommended the use of continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP) to enhance durability.

The East-West Road is a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activities in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region. Timely completion of this project is expected to facilitate transportation and contribute to the overall development of the area.
