Flood: Bayelsa House of Assembly candidate Ndiomu-Brown underscores need for effective fumigation to avert outbreak of epidemics
The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) House of Assembly candidate, Sagbama Constituency 3, Mrs Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown has stressed the need for proper fumigation of the communities affected by flooding in the Constituency in order to avert outbreak of epidemics.
The aspirant also advised the people from the affected communities to be wary of poisonous reptiles.
She stated poisonous reptiles like mankind are affected by flooding as they have been displaced from their natural habitation.
The former Deputy Chief of Staff to the immediate past administration was quoted in a statement stressing the need for the support of the government and relevant health related organizations in carrying out the task.
She noted that Governor Douye Diri led administration had done so much in assisting the flood victims across the eight local government areas of the state but there is still a lot to be done.
Mrs Ndiomu-Brown added that now that water is receding in some affected communities, there is need for sensitization and enlightenment campaigns .
According to her, flood victims must be enlightened on the need to fumigate their communities in order to avert impending danger of an outbreak of epidemics
Most of the victims may not have financial wherewithal to carry out the onerous task hence the need for the support of the relevant government agencies and the corporate organizations.
There is need for post flooding plan, especially relocation of the victims back to their respective homes and communities.
In addition, government ably supported by the Multinational Companies must provide financial assistance for the victims who have lost their means of livelihood to the flooding.
Farmers across the eight local government areas whose farmlands have been washed away need to be supported with seedlings in preparation for the next planting season.
