Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State is expected to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly today, Friday, July 10, 2026.

This presentation marks a significant step in the state’s fiscal planning process following the recent approval of the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) by the lawmakers. The House had earlier received the MTEF document from the executive, clearing a major procedural hurdle after months of delay attributed to lingering political tensions between the executive and legislative arms.

Sources indicate that the governor’s presentation is expected to outline the administration’s spending priorities for the coming fiscal year, with emphasis on infrastructure development, human capital investment, and economic diversification initiatives aimed at sustaining Rivers State’s growth.

The Rivers State House of Assembly, currently operating from its quarters auditorium ahead of the full reconstruction of the main complex, is anticipated to commence deliberations on the budget immediately after the formal presentation. Speaker Martin Amaewhule had earlier assured that the House would fast-track the process in the overall interest of the state.

This development comes amid ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and collaboration between the two arms of government after prolonged political crises that previously affected budget processes in the state.

Further details on the proposed budget size, key allocations, and projected revenue are expected to be disclosed during today’s presentation. Stakeholders, including civil society groups and economic analysts, will be closely monitoring the budget figures and policy directions announced by the governor.
