GCSS Nembe needs attention of Bayelsa State govt, citizens send SOS
At a time when knowledge acquisition in other climes is getting increasingly sophisticated with conducive learning environment, the same cannot be said in our own clime.
While in our clime here, most of the most taunted leaders of tomorrow attend classes in an ad-hoc environments including under trees and unsafe environment.
This is Comprehensive Government Secondary School (CGSS) Nembe, in Nembe LGA of Bayelsa State has been in a deplorable condition for decades and this is a classic example of this sad story.
These pictures below tells the current deplorable condition of this school, formerly Community Secondary School (CSS) Oluasiri before it was changed to Government Comprehensive Secondary School (GCSS), and this is a public secondary school owned by the Bayelsa State Government in Nembe LGA, that has been abandoned for years.
These structures was put up by the then old Rivers State Government for technical schools which the Bayelsa state Government inherited after the creation of the state in 1996 and since then the state government has failed to maintain or put up new structures for the students and staff of this school.
This explain why parents and the entire Opu-Nembe Community is calling on the Gov. Douye Diri led Prosperity Bayelsa state Government to come to the aid of the students and staff of this school by rehabilitating and providing an enabling environment for the students to learn in consonant with their rights to attend school in conducive environments.
This gross neglect by the state Government has provided a leeway for miscreants in the area who always sneak to defecate in the open classrooms, thereby compounding an already bad situation for the students and staff of this school.
