The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, on Monday, extolled the good virtues of Mrs Bridget Seinfimo-ere Amule, the departed wife of the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Thompson Amule.

Governor Diri, who spoke through his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, at a service of songs held in honour of the deceased at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall, described Mrs Bridget Amule as “a good Christian who impacted the Church positively.”

Giving words of encouragement to the bereaved family, the Bayelsa Chief Executive said it was difficult to fill the emotional and psychological vacuum created by the demise of a loving wife who had lived together with her husband for over 30 years.

He, however, enjoined the family to draw fortitude and strength from the Lord, and take solace in the positive legacy the late Mrs. Bridget Amule had left behind in her earthly sojourn.

Governor Diri, who assured the Amule family that the State Government was standing by them in their trying moment, called on government functionaries to attend the funeral programme at the weekend both at Ayamasa in Bayelsa and Agoloma in Delta State.

Also speaking, the Member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Chief Frederick Agbedi, described the late Bridget as a beacon of light and warmth as well as a model of love who touched so many lives positively before her passing.

Earlier in his exhortation entitled “Where Do You Belong?”, Pastor Frank Ntia of Salvation Ministries, Okaka, said where every individual would end up in eternity is a vital question for only the living to answer.

Pastor Ntia, who anchored his message on Titus Chapter two verse eleven, expressed concern that “many Christians today are mere churchgoers who are not truly born again in Christ”, and therefore, stressed the need for all to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, and be saved.

Born on 4th April, 1966, Mrs Bridget Amule attended St John Catholic Mission School, Agoloma, River Nun Grammar School, Agbere-Odoni, College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, and obtained a Bachelor Degree in Education from the University of Port Harcourt in 2017.

Before her death on Saturday 6th July, 2024, she had worked as a professional classroom teacher in both Rivers and Bayelsa states, and later as supervisor of teachers as well as a Deputy Director at the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Okolobiri.

Dignitaries at the well-attended event include; the Senator representing Bayelsa East, Senator Benson Agadaga, Member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency, Hon. mitema Obordor, and the Deputy Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Ogbere.

Others include a former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rt.Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi; serving and past members of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Commissioners, local government council chairmen, including the Mayor of Yenagoa City, Mr Bulodiseye Ndiwari, the clergy, amongst others.
