Governor Fubara to Meet Warring Rivers Assembly Factions
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has invited members of the State House of Assembly to a crucial meeting aimed at resolving ongoing tensions within the legislature.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, issued a formal invitation to the Assembly members, including Speaker Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, following the Supreme Court’s judgment on the matter.
According to the letter, the meeting, scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Government House in Port Harcourt, will address key legislative concerns, including:
Provision of a suitable venue for Assembly sittings.
Payment of outstanding allowances and remunerations.
Presentation of the state budget and other legislative matters.
Any other issues necessary for the progress of the state.
The invitation underscores Governor Fubara’s commitment to resolving the impasse and ensuring legislative harmony in the best interest of Rivers State. The meeting is expected to pave the way for stability and the smooth functioning of governance in the state.
