A grassroots political pressure group, the Grace Movement Initiative (GMI), has called on Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, to consider the member representing Sagbama Constituency III, Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown, as a possible replacement for the late Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

The call was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Interim Chairman of the group, Comrade Elliot Zamide, and its Secretary, Comrade Engineer Fredrick U. Isaac, and made available to newsmen in Yenagoa on Tuesday. According to the statement, the Grace Movement Initiative said the current moment presents an opportunity for the governor to consolidate governance, political inclusion, and stability by appointing a competent, experienced, and widely accepted individual to fill the vacant position of deputy governor. The group noted that Mrs. Ndiomu-Brown has consistently demonstrated leadership capacity, loyalty to the party, and commitment to grassroots development, particularly within Sagbama Local Government Area and the wider Bayelsa political space.

“Following the antecedents, experience, and legislative competence of Hon. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown, it is only expedient that the responsibility of the deputy governorship be entrusted to her,” the statement read. GMI further described the lawmaker as a tested public servant whose record in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly reflects dedication to people-oriented legislation, constituency engagement, and collaborative governance.

The group argued that her elevation would not only ensure continuity in government but also strengthen public confidence, especially among women and youths who see her as a symbol of inclusiveness and effective representation. According to the group, Ndiomu-Brown’s political journey has been marked by consistency, accessibility, and respect across party lines, making her a unifying figure at a time when the state requires cohesion and steady leadership. The statement also emphasized that Governor Diri’s administration has a track record of rewarding competence and loyalty, adding that considering Ndiomu-Brown for the position would align with the governor’s philosophy of inclusive governance and merit-based leadership.

While stressing that the final decision rests with the governor and relevant constitutional processes, the Grace Movement Initiative appealed to political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and party faithful to support a choice that would promote stability, equity, and sustained development in Bayelsa State. The group reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing grassroots support for policies and decisions that advance good governance, peace, and democratic values across the state.
