The manager of Century Home Hotel in Owehlogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, has confessed to the gruesome murder of 22-year-old Point-of-Sale (POS) operator, Onoriode Bethel, who had been missing since December 13, 2024.

The suspect, identified as Iboirode, admitted to luring Bethel to the hotel under the pretense of settling a financial dispute. He killed her and secretly buried her within the hotel compound.

Delta State Police Command spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the shocking development on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

“The suspect murdered Bethel and buried her body on the hotel premises,” Edafe said.

Investigations revealed that the murder was an act of retaliation after Bethel accused the suspect of using a fake bank alert to fraudulently withdraw N10,000 from her account—a situation she reportedly resolved but which allegedly damaged his reputation.

The suspect’s wife also confessed to knowing about the crime, stating:
“My husband called her into the hotel; she is a friend of his. That day, he called her on the phone and took her into a room. It was around 7 p.m. I don’t know how he killed her because I was in our room. He came out around midnight and told me he had killed her.”

In a disturbing twist, the suspect used Bethel’s mobile phone to contact her father and demand a ransom. He also accessed her POS device, forced her to reveal the password, and withdrew money before killing her.

Her remains have since been recovered.

Bethel’s disappearance resurfaced in the police investigation following the March 2025 arrest of Iboirode and other hotel staff in connection with the unrelated murder of a guest, Pastor Sunday Ogofohta.

The Delta State Police Command assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and justice will be served.
