The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has vowed not to play lip service or joke with the security and welfare of Corps members in the State,noting that a conducive environment is essential for good service.

Gov. Douye Diri, who made this known while presiding over the 2023 Batch C, Stream I opening/ swearing – in ceremony of corps members deployed to the State for one year mandatory national service, expressed optimism and support to the ideals, aims, programmes and activities of the National Youth Service Corps.

The 1301 Corps members were sworn-in by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Maltide Abrakasa Ayemieye.

Gov. Diri, represented by the Executive Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters, Mr. Wisdom Poyeri , enjoined the newly sworn-in corps members to render quality service to the state and the nation at large as the nation is depending on them for quality service and leadership.

Governor Diri also urged the corps members to participate actively in all camp activities to boost their citizenship, leadership skills, assuring that his administration will continue to support the scheme to achieve its set aims.

In her welcome address, the State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity hinted that corps members deployed to the state have been all registered and gradually adjusting to the demands of the orientation exercise.

She commended the Executive Governor for on going construction of two additional hostels and drainages in the camp and urged early completion of work to aid the deployment of more corps members to the state.
