The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Timipre Sylva for the November 11 Election in Bayelsa State said if elected governor he will partner with Federal Government and the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in developing Ogbia Kingdom.

Sylva, a former governor and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources stated this at Ogbia main town, headquarters of Ogbia LGA when campaign trail visited tOtuasega and Otuokpoti communities.

He said with an APC government at the centre and their son, Chief Samuel Ogbuku at the helm of affairs as the Managing Director of the NDDC, Ogbia people and Bayelsians will get it right in terms of development.

Sylva pointed out that Ogbia is a blessed land because it has always produced leaders, adding that Chief Melford Okilo was the first civilian Governor of old Rivers State then Goodluck Jonathan was vice-president and President of Nigeria and now the Managing Director of the NDDC.

He said while serving as a governor, a lot of projects carried out by his government for Ogbia people including sand filling of the Abobri road, setting up of the first Independent Power Plant (IPP) in the country amongst other projects were all abandoned by subsequent administrations due to lack of love for the Ogbia people.

His words: “When I become governor, on the 11th of November when you vote for me and on the 14th of February 2024 when I would have been sworn in and inaugurated, I will partner with the MD of NDDC and story of Ogbia will never be the same again.

“Ogbia is a blessed land, I said so before a long time ago, when we were in old Rivers State, an Ogbia man rose up to become our governor and leader of our people, our dear father late Chief Melford Okilo an Ogbia son, we were yearning to go to the centre and as a small minority, it was almost impossible for it to become Vice President or President of the country but God made it possible and made Dr Goodluck Jonathan Vice President and President, an Ogbia son and then today he has also made an Ogbia son the MD, Executive officer of NDDC in charge of nine states.

“You all know I started a lot of projects, the projects to do the road to Abobri where I grew up, that road a lot of road that i opened up, sand filled completely but abandoned by subsequent governments because they do not love Ogbia people, now Bayelsa was the first state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to develop our own IPP which is Independent Power Plant . you will know the power plant at Imiringi which supply power not only in Ogbia but the whole Bayelsa State because they do not love Ogbia people they have killed it, I heard they have sold it.

Sylva, while reeling out his six points agenda said that his priority agenda which is human capacity development is to develop, educate and empower the people so as to brace up for challenges.

He said his administration if elected into power will through his agenda of infrastructural development tackle the perennial flooding bedeviling the people of Ogbia and Bayelsa State at large.

Speaking to the mammoth crowd at Ogbia town, the Director General of the Campaign Council and Managing Director of NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku said the only way Ogbia people can reciprocate the love the APC governorship candidate has for the Ogbia Kingdom by recommending him as MD of NDDC is to vote massively for APC come November 11 governership election.

Also speaking, the Director General East of the Campaign Council, Chief Claudius Enegesi, APC House of Representatives candidate, Edi Orubo and immediate past Ogbia LGA Chairman, Ebinyo Turner said the Ogbia people have decided to massively vote for APC come November 11, 2023.

At. Otuasega and Otuokpoti communities, the APC governorship hopeful reiterated commitment to massively transform Bayelsa State through his six point agenda of human capacity development, empowerment and education, infrastructural development, electricity, agriculture and to develop a gas based economy to provide jobs for the unemployed youths and women.

He noted that a vote for the APC is a vote to change your destiny, adding that “So when president Tinubu has already offered to partner with us, we will not partner with him? So, vote for APC, vote for myself and great Joshua Maciver, and I want to assure you with us at the helm of affairs, with NDDC partnering with us, I know Ogbia people are wise people and will not make mistake on the 11th of November after voting for APC, we will connect to the centre and Ogbia will never be the same again.

” When you vote for myself and my deputy, MacIver you are voting to change your destiny and that of your children yet unborn. So on the 11 of November I want you to get your PVCs and cast your votes for the APC.”
