The 2026 International Museum Day Celebration Held at the National Museum Uyo Witness unprecedented crowd were lectures was given about the Ekpu Oro of the Ancients Oron Traditional and Culture Educating them how to promote and encourage their cultural heritage.

The Event highlighting and expose them to understand how Oron People have their own Alphabet of writing, language, Ekpu Oro and especially their way of lives meanwhile the clergy, business guru, traditional fathers, captains of industries and especially those from the tourism sectors also grease the occasion.

Speaking during the event, The National President National Museum Society, Obong John A. Sunday said celebrating Museum Day is to Unite the World through these year theme and especially bring the community close to the Museum encouraging, protecting and promote our Cultural Heritage while reserve those ancient monument done by our forefathers for our history not to be forgotten.

He commended the Oron People for their Massive turn out showcased that they have passion for their tradition coming to understand more about their ancient culture and tradition while believe next year would be more than these and take the advantage to bring another ethnic group to showcase their ancient tradition and believe before the white men came.

The Director General National Commission for Museum and Monument, Mr. Olugbile Holloway said they focused on the ongoing disruption in Human Relationship, including crises, conflict, war and other troubling development that hinder the progress humanity, has recently made while their goals for 2026 is to redirect museum efforts towards levering resources through activities, events and dialogue to promote peace and understanding among individuals and communities.

The Director General said Museum objectives, both movable and immovable artifacts archiving documents, stories and other museum materials can play vital roles in helping decision makers, role models and participant both active and passive recognize the important of shared humanity and human reliability through life.

He said the use this year celebration as an opportunity to call on individual, government agencies, non-governmental organization and the private sectors join the National Council Museum in utilizing the vast resources available across museum Nation Wide including private ones and the creative Industry to combat the darkness afflicting.

The former commissioner for information, Mr. Christopher Abasi-eyo said the Museum is used to Unite the World while take the advantage to promote and encourage our cultural heritage using it as a medium to teach our children the language and especially our way of lives educating them the root where we came from which is necessary as a people.

He commended The National Museum for their hand of fellowship using the Museum to unite the people and made them to understand their tradition and culture especially those Monument made by their forefathers for their children unborn to come and witness it is welcome development showcasing that they have tradition and culture without forgetting their History.

A University Don, Professor Effiong Asuquo Oyoefoki has educated his people through his lecture that their forefathers has tremendously performed credibly well during their time seriously protect our artifacts for generation unborn to witness it without apology especially our stories and way of lives has played a vital role in our decision relating with people as they call us Oron People known in doing things well without encouraging discrimination, and operation cannot be their character as a people.

He said in the ancient days they don’t joke with the Ekpu-Oro which is a Masquerade that has so many significance as far as their culture and tradition is concerned towards the development their forefathers has alphabetical writing which they establish and understand as Oron People but today it has gone to the tin air and especially when a child is born their forefathers as tradition demand uplift the child for spiritual blessing.

He further said that their forefathers has their alphabetical way of writing just like China, Egypt to showcase that they were civilized people before the coming of the white men while call on the people of Oron to make sure revisit their History.
