Residents of Egweama Community in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State erupted in celebration after a woman reportedly gave birth following what locals described as a three-year pregnancy.

Videos and photographs circulating on social media showed scores of community members dancing through the streets, singing and celebrating what they described as a miraculous childbirth. The celebration reportedly took place around the community’s civic centre.

According to several social media posts, the woman had allegedly remained pregnant for three years before eventually delivering a baby. The claim has generated widespread reactions online, with many expressing amazement while others questioned the medical possibility of such a prolonged pregnancy.

Comments on the viral posts included testimonies from individuals claiming to have witnessed or experienced similar situations, while others maintained that a normal human pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks and urged caution until medical experts verify the claim.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Bayelsa State Ministry of Health or the hospital where the delivery allegedly took place to confirm the circumstances surrounding the birth.

Medical experts generally state that a normal pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks, and pregnancies extending beyond 42 weeks are considered post-term. There is no medically documented evidence of a viable human

pregnancy lasting three years. The exact circumstances behind the Egweama case therefore remain unclear and require official medical clarification.

The incident has continued to attract significant attention on social media, with many describing it as extraordinary while others have called for verified medical information before drawing conclusions.
