Late Chief Timipa Inebaraton goes home amidst pomp and pegantry

It was a solemn moment as family members, friends and well wishers joined the Inebaraton family in Ayakiri-Ama -Ogboloma town, Gbarain Kingdom, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State to pay final respect to a departed patriot Chief Timipa Inebaraton, father of the renowned journalist, Writer and political strategist, Dr Inebaraton Preye.

The funeral activities kick started on the 30th day of August 2024 with the Timipa Draught Open Challenge competition as over 14 professional players competed for the grand prize with winners going home with cash and other gift items, the programme was followed by a wrestling bout between MOSIEND and IYC Gbarain Clan in an open challenge between Champion George and Champion Oron and supporters as the Gbarain Kingdom went frenzy with the challenge in a suspense lad traditional entertainment pact event.

The funeral service commenced proper on the 31st day of August, 2024 as the remains of the deceased were finally moved from the NDUTH mortuary and received by Chiefs and family members of the Inebaraton family in a motorcade in a carnival-like event.An open air commendation service was conducted by a coalition of different clergy as the lead Apostle called on those present to live their lives right with God and man.

Hymns, Praise and worship and reading of bible portions and dance followed as the biography (life and times) of the late patriot were read during the service.The Ijaw Anointed Cultural Troupe also showcased the rich values of the Ijaw people as women and girls of Ayakiri-Ama also presented drama and dance to immortalise the life and times of a man they call father, uncle and brother.At the grave side, it was free for all tears as children,sympathisers and well wishers pay final respect to the deceased as the remains of the Inebaraton hero were lowered to mother earth.

Former Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and General Manager of the Bayelsa State Housing and Property Development Authority, Rt Hon. Tonye Isenah, Commissioner for Community Development Affairs, Hon Alfred Belemote, General Manager, Niger Delta Television NDTv, Comr, Fred Fabor, General Manager, New waves, Pastor Preye Wariowei, Former Member House of Representative, Hon Warman Ogoriba, Hon, Jonjon Oyienfie, Hon. T. K Ogoriba, Member Representing Gbarain/Ekpetiama Constituency 2, BYHA,Hon Waikumo Amakoromo and other guests paid glowing tributes to the departed as they encourage the Inebaraton family to take solace in God in this their trying times.

Dr Inebaraton Preye who read the biography of his late father described his father as a disciplinarian, who put the interest of the society above personal gains, he said his father was a true community builder, a passionate leader and a consummate Secretary to over 20 organizations and groups during his lifetime. The newzmarshal noted that his father aided the employment of over 50 qualified persons in various offices but remained humble and dedicated to official duties till the last day of his departure from earth.

Chief Timipa Inebaraton was married to two wives, Mrs Abigail Inebaraton and Mrs Sweet Inebaraton, he gave birth to five children, Dr Inebaraton Preye, Faith Inebaraton, Kingsley Inebaraton, Sarah Inebaraton and Rejoice Inebaraton, he succumbed to the cold hands of death at the age of 65.

The Inebaraton family also held a thanksgiving service at the St Paul’s Anglican Church Ogboloma for the successful funeral of their patriot after every traditional rite has been fulfilled.
