LIFE-ND empowers 120 incubatees with 1650 bags of fish feeds, Juveniles in Bayelsa

Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta, LIFE-ND a rural based agri-enterpriee development organization has distributed 1650 bags of fish feeds and juveniles to 120 incubatees undergoing training in various incubation centres.

The Procurement Officer of LIFE-ND, Mr. Isaiah Ponde disclosed this to newsmen during the distribution of the fish feeds and juveniles to various incubation centres in Bayelsa State.

According to Pondei, the programme which is the first phase is designed to produce agro-enteprenuers having successfully completed their training, stating that the incubatees who have received their fish feeds and juveniless are being empowered to be independent.

He said the incubatees having gone through the full cycle of their training are expected to be self-sufficient and self-reliant, emphasising that the programme is to give them financial empowerment to improve the livelihood of the indivifual, their families and the Gross Domestic Product, GDP of Bayelsa State and the nation at large.

The Procurement Officer of LIFE-ND stated that over 250 incubatees are being graduated to be independent, saying that the graduands will in the nearest future become incubators who also will have incubatees under them.

” For these batch of incubatees, we are distributing 1650 bags of fish feeds and juveniles to 120 incubatees to the different incubation centres. For this particular fish farm, we are giving them 75 bags of 3mm top feeds and 50 bags of 2mm top feeds and juveniles.

” I think the programme is on course. We are graduating well over 250 incubatees to be independent of their own and will inturn become incubators who will have other incubatees working under them and the period of six years we are going to have harvest of incubators and of course the prices of fish will come down and improve the economy.

” The same thing we are doing for the fish farmers we are going to do for the poultry farmers. We have 22 fish farms ( incubation centres) and 12 poultry farms (incubation centres) in Yenagoa. Hereafter, we will get their Juveniles their farms and they will start their businesses also for the poultry farmers having distribute their feeds, the Day Old Chics will follow for them to start their businesses,” the Procurement Officer noted.

He called of youths within the age bracket of 18 to 35 to avail themselves of the empowerment opportunities LIFE-ND is currently embarking on, emphasising that in a period of 3 months LIFE-ND will make them become independent, self-sustaining and financially empowered.

Mr. Sunday Aguwah, Farm Manager, Oyinpere Farms LTD and Felix Fiteri, Chief Executive Officer of Feco Fish Enterprise who are incubators while receiving the fish feeds and juveniles on behalf the incubatees expressed happiness, saying that with the feeds and juveniles the incubatees will have a better harvest and in the long run make them independent.

They thanked LIFE-ND for matching words with action by distributing fish feeds and juveniles to the incubatees as this will go along way to empower them to start their own business to be self-reliant.

Also speaking, Emmanuel Sakwe, an incubatee from Oyinpere Farms and Emmanuel Bidi from Feco Farms Enterprise said they are elated to receive the fish feeds and juveniles, they described feeds as top quality and the juveniles as an high breed.

The duo thanked LIFE-ND for empowering them to start their own fish business and expressed confidence that with the feeds and juveniles there will be bountiful harvest of fish.
